The Return: Blue Moon Legends

The Return: Blue Moon Legends

Exciting news from Fantasy Flight Games, who are releasing a collected edition of Reiner Knizia’s Blue Moon early in 2014. This two-player card game released to wide praise, built a cult following, and was probably ahead of its time in the sense that CCG titles like¬†Magic: The Gathering had yet to gather the kind of steam we’ve seen in recent years. It’s almost like there are two audiences these days, split between the kind of people that like to buy boosters and build collections and the other kind who like to buy a self-contained game. Blue Moon offered some deep mechanics that were similar to collectible trading-card games, making it a good way to enjoy the fast-paced complexity of a game like Magic: The Gathering without the endless hustle (and expense) of chasing down that perfectly balanced deck.

A nice bonus for those of us who missed any of the Blue Moon expansions is that this set will include all of the cards previously shipped after the launch of the core game. In the video game world, they’d call it a Game of the Year edition or something similarly ‘Lux sounding. No word yet on pricing, but we’ll know more about that as the launch date approaches.
